Pave Purplish Blue Sapphire Ring 2.57 Ct., 14K White Gold

From the bowl shaped pits and alluvial streams of Ceylon Sri Lanka this sapphire began its life under tropical skies, slowly forming over millions of years as corundum crystals grew and absorbed trace elements that give each stone its unique color. Our miners in Sri Lanka have a tradition of careful hand sorting and respectful extraction, and this 2.57 carat cushion shape purplish blue sapphire is a rare example of that patient natural process. Measuring 8.95 x 6.96 x 4.48 mm with a mixed brilliant cut, the stone shows a medium light color saturation, an excellent polish, and a clarity grade described as very very slightly included evaluated at eye level, and it has not been enhanced. The result is a transparent gem that carries the quiet history of its landscape, a sapphire that reads as both youthful and illustrious as it returns to light beneath the jeweler’s loupe.

At our bench the sapphire was set with a halo of white round natural diamonds totaling approximately 0.378 carats, each carefully selected for clarity VS and color grade F G, to amplify the sapphire’s subtle purplish blue glow.
