Born deep beneath the storied soils of Ceylon Sri Lanka this cushion shape color change sapphire began its journey as rough crystal carried in alluvium from ancient mountains to local hands, it was sorted by experienced miners who recognized its rare violetish blue body color and its capacity to shift to purple under different light, it then traveled to expert cutters where the gem was carefully faceted into a mixed brilliant cut measuring 11.22 x 8.55 x 5.32 mm to maximize its 4.44 carat weight and to reveal a vivid color saturation with an excellent polish, the stone is GIA certified and evaluated as very slightly included at eye level, it has been heat treated to enhance stability and color, and its transparent clarity allows light to travel with a lively, velvety intensity, this is a stone that carries the landscape of its origin within its depths, a small window to Sri Lanka in every glance.
From the first sketch to the final polish our goldsmiths at The Natural Sapphire Company transformed that story into an object of wearable art, the sapphire sits proud in an 18K yellow gold setting embraced by a halo of white pear shaped natural diamonds totaling approximately 0.60 carats with clarity grades of VS1 and VS2 and color grade F, further framed by white round natural diamonds totaling approximately 1.20 carats with clarity grades VS1 and VS2 and color grade E, each diamond is individually set and matched to produce a seamless corona of brilliance, the ring’s proportions and prong work display a level of hand finishing that rivals the exacting standards seen in houses like Cartier and Tiffany, the precision of the diamond pavage and the balanced silhouette recall the refined symmetry of Van Cleef and Arpels while the bold yet elegant use of yellow gold evokes the modern luxury of Bvlgari, our craftsmen combine traditional techniques with modern gemological rigor to ensure each prong and gallery supports the stone with both security and grace, the result is a ring that reads as heirloom quality and modern design in equal measure, for those who seek connection to origin and excellence in making this piece unites the romance of Ceylon, the assurance of GIA certification, and the meticulous workmanship associated with the world’s finest jewelers.
