Product description

This ring centers on a transparent pear shaped blue sapphire weighing 1.59 carats, with precise dimensions of 8.38 by 5.79 by 4.06 millimeters, presenting a length to width ratio of approximately 1.45, a proportion that preserves the pear silhouette while optimizing light return. The stone has been fashioned in a mixed brilliant cut, combining brilliant facets on the pavilion with a modified faceted crown, a faceting scheme that concentrates scintillation into the pavilion and allows the crown to modulate color saturation, yielding intense blue flashes without sacrificing depth. Clarity has been evaluated as very very slightly included at eye level, which is to say the inclusions are minute and do not interrupt the visual plane or compromise brilliance, and the polish has been graded excellent, indicating clean facet junctions and minimal external finish lines. This sapphire is unenhanced, originating from Ceylon Sri Lanka, a source known for producing vivid cornflower to royal blue sapphires with strong color saturation, and the combination of natural vivid saturation, exacting facet geometry, and superior polish produces a lively balance of flash and body color that reads as both saturated and transparent in hand.

Surrounding the central sapphire is a halo of white round natural diamonds, with a total approximate weight of 0.42 carats, selected for clarity grades of Very Slightly Included at the VS1 and VS2 levels, and a color grade of F, which reads as a near colorless white against the white gold mounting and enhances contrast with the blue center. The diamonds have been matched for proportional consistency and cut quality to deliver uniform brilliance across the halo, their round facets complementing the mixed brilliant geometry of the sapphire to produce cohesive scintillation. The mounting is executed entirely in 14 karat white gold, chosen for its favorable balance of strength and wearability, and the setting architecture uses discrete prongs to secure the pear shaped sapphire along its point and apex, coupled with individually set round diamonds in a finely wrought basket and halo assembly. The open gallery beneath the crown is engineered to permit light ingress and egress, a deliberate craftsmanship choice that maintains maximum optical performance for both the sapphire and the accent diamonds, while the prong forms are forged to firm tolerances to restrain movement and minimize stress concentrations at the girdle.

From a durability standpoint this piece has been configured for daily wear with materials and design decisions that address both hardness and mechanical security. Sapphire, being natural corundum, rates nine on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, which places it immediately below diamond and substantially above common jewelry gemstones, making it highly resistant to surface abrasion and ideal for prolonged retention of polish and facet crispness. Corundum also lacks planes of perfect cleavage, imparting notable toughness, however any gemstone can suffer localized chipping if subjected to extreme point impacts, particularly at the tip of a pear shaped stone, therefore the four prong securing system and the surrounding diamond halo act as protective buffers that help deflect blunt forces away from the sapphire apex. The accent diamonds, being natural and graded VS and F, provide exceptional hardness at ten on the Mohs scale, and their placement in a halo creates a secondary sacrificial zone that will take incidental contact before the center stone. The choice of 14 karat white gold for the mounting is optimal for everyday use, as the alloy contains sufficient base metals to improve scratch resistance relative to higher karat golds, and the ring will maintain its structural integrity under routine handling. Routine maintenance recommendations include periodic inspection of prong security, gentle cleaning with warm soapy water and a soft brush to preserve brilliance, avoidance of harsh impact and heavy chemical exposure, and consideration of professional rhodium re plating over time to refresh the bright white finish, all measures that will preserve both the aesthetic and mechanical longevity of the piece. The Natural Sapphire Company stands behind the craftsmanship and selection criteria employed in this ring, combining uncompromised natural material provenance with technical faceting and setting practices to produce a jewel that harmonizes visual performance with robust daily wearability.
