The Natural Sapphire Company presents a ring centered by a transparent, cushion shaped blue sapphire weighing 3.58 carats, measuring 10.30 by 7.94 by 4.96 millimetres, and finished with a mixed brilliant cut. The mixed brilliant faceting plan combines calibrated brilliant facets on the crown with controlled step and pavilion facets to optimise both scintillation and depth of tone, producing a lively interplay between pinpoint light return and broad flashes of blue. The stone displays intense colour saturation consistent with fine Ceylon material, and the polish is graded excellent, which enhances surface reflection and sharp facet junctions. Clarity has been evaluated at eye level as very slightly included, with inclusions that do not disrupt the overall transparency or the gemologic performance, allowing the sapphire to present a pure, vivid bodycolour and stable light transmission when examined face up.
The cushion outline has been proportioned to emphasize the mixed brilliant architecture, with a slightly domed crown and a well calibrated table that controls windowing while preserving fire. Facet symmetry and alignment are precise, supporting consistent light return and even colour distribution across the table and pavilion. The gem displays subtle pleochroic behaviour typical of sapphire, with blue to slightly violet blue tones visible at different viewing angles, which adds visual complexity without compromising the primary intense blue saturation. The excellent polish extends to crisp facet edges and well executed girdle finishing, which are important for both appearance and durability during mounting.
Flanking the central sapphire are white, trapezoid shaped natural diamonds with a combined weight of approximately 0.50 carats, clarity graded Very Slightly Included in the VS1 and VS2 range, and a colour grade of F. The trapezoid geometry has been chosen to sit flush against the cushion shoulders, creating a seamless transition from the centre stone to the shoulders and reinforcing the ring silhouette. The diamonds are cut to complement the mixed brilliant centre, contributing targeted brilliance and white light return that increases perceived colour contrast, which in turn accentuates the sapphire colour. Clarity in the VS range ensures clean visual presentation under normal viewing conditions, and the F colour ensures that the side stones read as near colourless, supporting the intense blue of the central sapphire without introducing unwanted warmth.
The entire mounting is executed in platinum 950, selected for its exceptional mechanical properties and long term wearability. Platinum 950 is a dense, high purity platinum alloy that resists abrasion and maintains prong integrity over extended use, making it an ideal metal for secure claw settings that expose the pavilion to light while protecting the girdle. The prong configuration in this design is engineered to balance security with disclosure, using carefully tapered claws and reinforced shoulders to minimise stress points, and precise millegrain free finishing where needed to maintain a clean profile. Platinum 950 also offers superior resistance to surface loss compared with softer alloys, which reduces the need for frequent reprofile work and preserves the original polish and fit for many years. Every aspect of the fabrication from seat milling to final hand polishing is carried out to tight tolerances to ensure longevity, and The Natural Sapphire Company stands behind the craftsmanship and material choice for customers seeking a ring that performs technically and endures practically.
