From the deep, ancient soils of Ceylon, a journey began for a sapphire that would become the heart of this ring. Formed over millions of years under heat and pressure, this 2.05 carat cushion shaped blue sapphire was born in the storied mines of Sri Lanka, a place long celebrated for producing sapphires with velvety, saturated color and lively internal character. At The Natural Sapphire Company we honor that lineage by tracing each gem back to its origin whenever possible, and by respecting the traditions and people connected to these stones. This sapphire arrived to our workshop as a rough, a pebble of potential, and our cutters worked with the stone to reveal its ideal blue, balancing weight and brilliance to preserve the depth that makes Ceylon sapphires so treasured. Heat treatment was applied as an enhancement to refine the blue, a common and stable practice that gently develops the tone and clarity, while the gem retained its natural personality and eye clean clarity when evaluated at eye level.
In the hands of our artisans the rough became a precisely faceted mixed brilliant cut cushion, with dimensions of 9.14 by 6.57 by 3.88 millimeters, and an excellent polish that allows light to travel and return with rich flashes of blue and violet. The result is a stone with dark color saturation that still shows life and movement, a sapphire that reads as elegant and dramatic on the finger. Flanking this center stone are white emerald cut shaped natural diamonds weighing approximately 0.40 carats in total, selected for their clean optics and refined geometric contrast. These diamonds are graded color E, clarity VS1 and VS2, and their linear facets provide a crisp frame that accentuates the sapphire without overpowering it. The entire composition sits in 14K yellow gold, a warm embrace that complements the sapphire s blue depth and the diamonds clarity, while lending the ring a timeless, classical presence.
Beyond beauty, the design is conceived for security and daily confidence, because a precious story should feel safe to wear. The sapphire is secured by a strong prong setting that cradles the stone from multiple points, a structure that was engineered to hold the gem firmly while allowing light to enter and enliven the cut. The prongs are substantial without being bulky, and they are paired with a solid gallery and a well constructed basket that supports the pavilion, so the stone is never left vulnerable to shock or impact. The emerald cut diamonds are set into sturdy cups and reinforced shoulders, their settings integrated into the band so that each accent stone shares the same purposeful protection. Every joint is soldered and finished to a high standard, and our polish is not merely aesthetic, it also removes tiny catches that could compromise the security of the mount over time.
At The Natural Sapphire Company we finish each piece with meticulous inspection and hand finishing, so your ring leaves our bench ready for a lifetime of wear. Craftsmanship extends to the smallest details, from the smooth inside of the band that fits comfortably, to prong tips that are rounded and burnished for durability. We offer guidance on care and maintenance, and our team stands behind the work with service options to help preserve the setting and restore the original brilliance as needed. Wearing this ring is wearing a story, a history that began in Ceylon s earth and passed through skilled hands to become an object of beauty and reassurance. If you would like to learn more about the sapphire s origin, the exact setting details, or our care recommendations, we are happy to walk you through every step, because part of our promise is that the gemstones we share are as secure as they are exceptional.
