Product description

From the day this blue sapphire first formed deep within the metamorphic folds of Ceylon Sri Lanka, it began a quiet story of pressure, heat, and time that today is reflected in every facet. Miners in Sri Lanka have been recovering stones like this for centuries, with local traditions and careful hands guiding each gem from pocket to market. This particular sapphire weighs 7.19 carats, its oval shape measuring 14.52 by 11.84 by 4.83 millimeters, and its journey continued when it reached The Natural Sapphire Company where skilled cutters and gem specialists assessed its potential. The mixed brilliant cut was chosen to balance the stone is vivid color intensity with optimal light return, allowing the sapphire is natural depth of blue to sing while preserving a lively play of scintillation. In that transition from the earth to the bench, small inclusions that tell the stone is history were respected and left, and the stone received a standard heat treatment to enhance clarity and stability, a common and accepted practice for stones from this classic Ceylon source.

Viewed face up the sapphire is transparently luminous, a vivid blue that shifts from royal to cornflower depending on the angle of light, and the mixed brilliant cutting plane draws the eye inward toward a deep, velvety heart. The clarity is graded very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, which means the stone will appear clean to the unaided eye while retaining internal character that gem lovers appreciate. Excellent polish allows the facets to snap light with a crispness that complements the gem is saturation, and the table and crown proportions have been refined to enhance both brilliance and color saturation. On the finger the oval silhouette of 14.52 by 11.84 by 4.83 millimeters will present a commanding presence without overwhelming the wearers hand, and the 7.19 carat weight gives substantial visual impact while remaining wearable for daily elegance or special occasion glamour.

When imagining this sapphire in a custom piece, complementary gemstones and metal choices become part of the narrative, shaping how the blue will read and how the piece will sit in a story of style. A halo of fine white diamonds will heighten sparkle and create a luminous frame that makes the vivid blue read even more saturated, a classic pairing that suits a solitaire halo ring or a pendant suspended from a delicate chain. For a modern take, tapered baguette diamonds on either shoulder will lend architectural clarity and emphasize the oval length, while pav set shoulders will add continuous fire and a sense of luxury. If you prefer color contrast, small, finely cut emeralds will introduce a regal green that plays elegantly with deep blue, creating a palette that evokes antique court jewels, while tiny rubies can add a warm counterpoint for a romantic, vintage inspired scheme. Metal choices will change the mood, with platinum or white gold maintaining crisp contrast and maximum brilliance, yellow gold warming the blue for an heirloom aesthetic, and rose gold introducing a soft romantic glow that enhances the stone is vivid presence in intimate light.

At The Natural Sapphire Company we imagine this sapphire finding its place in a ring, pendant, or bespoke cuff where each decision is intentional, from the ratio of diamond halo to main stone, to the thickness of the bezel or the height of the prongs that protect the stone. For a statement engagement ring a low four prong setting in platinum will showcase the mixed brilliant cut while a subtle cathedral shank provides both support and elegance. For a cocktail ring a closed halo of small brilliant cut diamonds, perhaps interspersed with tiny blue sapphires to echo the central color, will deliver theatrical sparkle and depth. Whatever the design, the sapphire is 7.19 carats, oval shaped, mixed brilliant cut, heat treated and from Ceylon Sri Lanka, will retain its narrative from mine to design. Contact The Natural Sapphire Company to discuss how we can pair this gem with complementary stones and metals to craft a personal piece that honors both the gem is origin and the story you wish to tell.
