This 2.08 carat, round shape, greenish blue sapphire began its journey in the alluvial deposits of Madagascar, where artisanal and small scale operations recover rough material from weathered gravels. The rough exhibiting saturated tone and clean crystal habit was set aside during primary sorting for its potential to yield a fine faceted stone. The selected crystal was measured and planned with precision to maximize color and weight retention, then transferred to an experienced cutter who executed a mixed brilliant faceting scheme to balance dispersion and face up color. The resulting stone measures 7.29 by 7.24 by 5.08 mm, displays vivid color intensity, and carries a clarity grade of very slightly included as evaluated at eye level. The cut preserves weight while enhancing brilliance, and an excellent polish was applied to optimize surface finish and light return. A controlled heat treatment was carried out to stabilize and intensify the stone's hue, a common and accepted enhancement that is fully disclosed. Throughout this phase The Natural Sapphire Company performed independent inspections to confirm measurements, treatment disclosure, and conformance to quality expectations.
After cutting and finishing, the sapphire underwent formal assessment and documentation to support provenance and consistent representation in the market. Grading focused on weight, dimensions, cut quality, polish, clarity, and color intensity, and the stone was photographed and cataloged for inventory and client review. Careful handling during mounting or bezel preparation preserves the excellent polish and the optical attributes produced by the mixed brilliant cut, which emphasizes both scintillation and overall depth of color when set. The very slightly included clarity means small natural features are present, but they are not readily seen without magnification at standard viewing distances, allowing the vivid greenish blue appearance to remain the defining characteristic. The documented origin of Madagascar, the disclosed heat treatment, and the objective measurements are provided as part of The Natural Sapphire Company provenance and quality assurance process, enabling informed decisions by designers and collectors. Recommended care includes routine gentle cleaning with warm soapy water and avoidance of harsh chemicals and extreme thermal shock, ensuring this 2.08 carat round sapphire retains its visual and structural integrity as it moves from our inventory into a setting or collection.
