Product description

Imagine lifting from a velvet cushion a transparent 2.05 carat cushion shape bluish green sapphire, feeling its cool weight and seeing a world of color held within a gem that measures 6.72 x 6.44 x 5.01 mm. This beautiful stone has a mixed brilliant cut that sings with light, a clarity grade of very slightly included evaluated at eye level, vivid color intensity, and an excellent polish. It is heat treated in the careful way that brings out the very best of its natural color, and it hails from the legendary gem lands of Ceylon Sri Lanka. At The Natural Sapphire Company I have held many stones, and few combine transparency, tone, and precision of cut like this one. When light touches its facets the bluish green hues shift with a lively energy, a private sunrise and ocean breeze captured in a cushion of corundum. This sapphire is not only a jewel to admire, it is an heirloom in waiting, a piece that will sit close to the heart and reflect the quiet certainty of love and celebration.

To understand its beauty is to travel back millions of years, to the slow and majestic labor of the earth that created this gem. Deep beneath ancient seas and rising mountain ranges, aluminum and oxygen met under enormous pressure and heat to form corundum, the mineral that becomes sapphire. Tiny amounts of iron and titanium, present as impurities in the rock, braided themselves into the crystal lattice and gave this stone its unique bluish green personality. Over vast spans of time tectonic plates shifted, magma cooled, and metamorphic rocks folded and crumpled, forcing these crystals upward and then outward through rivers and floods. In Sri Lanka monsoon rains and gentle erosion carried these gems from bedrock into riverbeds and alluvial deposits where they rested, sometimes for millions of years, polished by grit and water and time. When a miner finally saw a glint in the silt and retrieved this crystal with care, the stone had already lived an existence of epochs and environments, a living memory of the planet.

When a cutter from our network at The Natural Sapphire Company received that crystal, they imagined the life it could lead in the hands of someone who values story and beauty. The mixed brilliant cut was chosen to maximize brilliance and scintillation, to balance depth with face up size, and to celebrate the bluish green color while preserving the clarity grade of very slightly included evaluated at eye level. The cushion shape was selected to evoke both classic elegance and modern warmth, with soft corners that suggest comfort and durability. Precise facets and an excellent polish allow every photon to enter, dance, and exit as a cascade of light, making each movement of the wearer a moment of joy. Heat treatment was used responsibly and traditionally to stabilize and intensify the gem, a practice accepted by connoisseurs to enhance what nature began. The result is a gem that feels alive on the skin and that rewards attention with new nuances of blue and green as the wearer moves through light and life.

Owning this sapphire is more than an acquisition, it is a promise kept in stone, a memory waiting to be made, and a gift that will create joy for generations. Imagine presenting this 2.05 carat cushion bluish green sapphire, imagine the quiet intake of breath as someone sees the dimensions 6.72 x 6.44 x 5.01 mm and notices the vivid color intensity and the flawless polish. Picture an engagement moment, an anniversary, or a personal milestone where the sapphire catches the light and seems to say I choose you, and we will make beautiful things together. At The Natural Sapphire Company we stand behind the provenance of this gem, its Ceylon Sri Lanka origin, and the ethical channels through which it came. We offer guidance on settings and care so that the heat treated stability and the excellent polish remain for a lifetime. To hold this stone is to hold a story that began in the earth millions of years ago and that will now continue in your hands and heart, creating a bond of joy, love, and enduring beauty.
