Product description

At The Natural Sapphire Company, we are pleased to present this beautiful transparent pair of blue sapphires from Ceylon, Sri Lanka, a source long respected for producing sapphires with refined brightness, elegant blue saturation, and excellent crystal quality. The individual weights are 0.85 carats and 0.69 carats, giving the pair a combined presence that is well suited for fine earrings, a two stone ring design, or a custom jewelry project requiring balance, color harmony, and natural distinction. Both sapphires are fashioned in a graceful pear shape, a cut that combines the softness of a rounded end with the directional elegance of a tapered point. The first sapphire measures 7.08 by 5.01 by 3.06 millimeters, while the second measures 7.15 by 5.00 by 2.71 millimeters. These dimensions show a visually compatible pair, with attractive face up spread and proportions that allow the stones to appear lively and refined when viewed together.

The mixed brilliant cut is an important feature of this pair, because it is designed to maximize light return, scintillation, and movement across the surface of each sapphire. In a pear shape, cutting quality is especially important, as the facets must guide light from the rounded shoulder through the center and toward the tapered point without creating a dull or overly dark appearance. These sapphires have been cut with high quality faceting that produces a crisp and engaging display of light, including bright flashes of blue, deeper royal reflections, and lively internal sparkle as the stones move. Their excellent polish further enhances this performance, giving the facet surfaces a smooth, mirror like quality that supports clean reflections and sharper brilliance. For an educated buyer, this level of polish matters because it affects not only beauty, but also the precision with which the sapphires interact with light.

The color intensity is graded as vivid, which is one of the most desirable qualities in blue sapphire. Vivid blue sapphires show strong saturation without appearing overly dark, and this balance is what gives the stones their luxurious visual appeal. The images show a saturated blue body color with electric flashes in areas where the facets catch direct light, while the side views reveal transparency and a pleasing depth of tone. Clarity is graded very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, meaning that minor natural inclusions may be present, but they do not dominate the visual impression of the stones when observed under normal viewing conditions. In natural sapphires, this clarity grade is respected because it confirms that the gems retain a clean and attractive appearance while also preserving the character expected of genuine corundum formed within the earth. The transparency of this pair allows the cutting and color to work together, creating a bright and appealing light display.

These sapphires have been heat treated, a traditional and widely accepted enhancement used to improve or stabilize the color and clarity of sapphire. Heat treatment is common in the fine sapphire market and is considered permanent under normal wear conditions. Their Ceylon origin adds further desirability, as Sri Lankan sapphires are known for their bright tone, open crystal, and exceptional liveliness compared with many darker sapphire sources. This pair offers a strong combination of origin, vivid color, attractive clarity, excellent polish, and skilled faceting, making it a valuable choice for a client who appreciates both beauty and gemological quality. At The Natural Sapphire Company, we value sapphires that can be understood as well as admired, and this pair is an excellent example of natural blue sapphire with refined proportions, credible grading details, and a luminous presence that will translate beautifully into fine custom jewelry.
