Pink sapphires are most often found in Sri Lanka, Madagascar, and Myanmar (formerly Burma). Pink sapphires are found in all hues, from very pale baby pinks to vivid, almost magenta, intense pinks. Pink sapphires are colored by traces of chromium. Eye-clean untreated pink sapphires are very rare. The majority of pink sapphires have been heated to enhance their clarity. The most common pink sapphire shapes are rectangular and square cushions or ovals.
